COLOR PALETTE: We invite all guests to come dressed in their favorite attire and to participate in our fall-themed ceremony, which has a color palette of forest green, wine red, gold, and cream.

BRIDE & GROOM ATTIRE: That’s a surprise! However, we can tell you it will feature red, gold, cream, and white. So please keep that in mind when choosing your outfits.

TRADITIONAL CEREMONY OUTFITS FOR WOMEN:

• Lehenga: A gorgeous three-piece outfit made up of a blouse, floor-length skirt, and a matching scarf (dupatta).

• Sari / Saree: The classic, timeless option consisting of an elegantly draped fabric over a blouse and petticoat. (Pro-tip: look for "ready-to-wear" or pre-stitched saris online to skip the complex wrapping!)

• Shalwar Kameez: A classic, comfortable three-piece suit consisting of a tunic-style top (kameez), loose-fitting trousers that taper beautifully at the ankle (shalwar), and a matching scarf (dupatta). For simplicity, you may see variations of this outfit with the names Palazzo, Anarkali, Churidar, Gharara, Sharara, Punjabi Suit. The main thing to know is that all of these is some variation of a long blouse, pants, and a shawl (dupatta)

CEREMONY STYLING GUIDE:

• A Sacred Event: Please keep in mind that the Hindu wedding ceremony is a sacred religious event, so we want to find a balance between sharp, celebratory fashion and respectful attire.

• For Women: Sleeveless tops, stylish dress straps, and the standard midriff-baring styles for lehengas and saris are perfectly acceptable. Please leave mini-skirts, thigh-high slits, extremely low cut, and see-through material for different occasions.

• For Men: Classic Western suits, blazers with dress trousers, or traditional Indian sets are all perfectly appropriate and wonderful. Ties are completely optional

• Shawls, Sweaters, and Jackets: Our beautiful venue sits on 300 acres of softly rolling hills and two scenic lakes, making for a stunning backdrop of Maryland fall foliage. Because our morning ceremony will be outdoors, the weather may be quite brisk. We will provide heaters and a comfortable indoor viewing option, but we highly recommend bringing a warm layer or cold-weather covering to ensure you stay cozy during the celebration!

• Where to shop? The reality is that shopping for Indian attire in the US, especially for women, is quite expensive. That said, if you live in Florida, Canada, New York, or New Jersey and prefer trying a few outfits on, there are plenty of options in those places, and maybe you’ll even score some great deals in between fall Navratri (October) and Diwali (Nov 8). That said, shopping online is a great alternative as long as you order about 1.5 months in advance (longer for custom measurements).
